My name is Delia Jenkins and I am a Maths/Science teacher at Brauer College in Warrnambool, Vic. I am also a Yr 9 Coordinator.
Warrnambool is a country Victorian city with a population of approx. 34,000. Brauer College is a government secondary school with an enrolment of 1350.
Warrnambool is on the coast and is a very beautiful place to be. We have great beaches and all the facilities you could ask for outside of metro Melbourne without the hustle and bustle of a big city.
I have three wonderful children age 25, 22 and 19. My eldest son is a Primary School teacher (Trained at ACU in Ballarat) at Miners Rest near Ballarat. My second, a daughter, is currently doing a Grad Dip in Primary after completing a Degree in Exercise and Sport Science last year and my youngest son has just started at La Trobe Uni Bendigo in PE and Outdoor Education which he is absolutely passionate about and loving the course so far.
I really enjoy the technological revolution and the challenge of trying to keep up with it (and my kids). I sometimes think that it is all too much and I will just stop but I have since learnt how to 'filter' and don't get so stressed if I haven't tweeted or posted for a couple of days.
I think it is going to be a real challenge to get our children to control their technology as at the moment I feel technology has a pretty firm grasp on most of our kids, and some adults, lives.
I look forward to working with this group of PLPeeps, I am sure we have a great deal to learn from each other.
