    Hey everyone,
I’m Ray, second year out, teaching at Kalinda Primary (in Ringwood) in a grade 1/2 class, on the ICT committee and an Ultranet lead user. Right now I’m basically trying to absorb as much valuable information and resources as I can (which I guess we all do).

The other thing that keeps me sane is sport. I’ve played and been involved in so many over the years. I love the social aspect of it and the fact that you think about nothing else when you’re out there.

I am in my eighth year of teaching at Leopold Primary School, near Geelong. I currently work in an open classroom team teaching 42 Grade Two students with Kelly Jordan.
Our class blog (http://2kmand2kj.global2.vic.edu.au) is a huge part of our teaching. We also like to use iPod Touches, IWBs, global collaborative projects and various Web 2.0 technologies.

Along with Simon Collier and Matt Limb, I write Tech Tools for Teachers; a free fortnightly e-newsletter for educators http://www.teachgennow.com.au/
One of my interests is writing a blog for educators http://primarytech.global2.vic.edu.au. I also like to read, run, cook and find ways to keep my life super organised.

     Hi,

    Hi,
    my name
{Arthurs_Creek_PS_Location.jpg} Although a small school we are very well equipped with IT resources. We have interactive whiteboards in every classroom and a 1:2 ratio for computers and laptops. We were one of the first schools in the state on the Ultranet as we were selected as a trial school for the pilot programme.
This is my 4th year of teaching. I spent my first 20+ years in the corporate world in the area of Sales and Marketing. As well as a Graduate Diploma in Education I have a Bachelor Degree in Business (Marketing and IT) and a Diploma in Marketing. I have spent a total of 11 years studying part-time while mostly working full-time.
I worked for medium to large technology based organisations that collected, organised and manipulated data. My main roles have been in account management, department management and project management. Although my degree incorporated Information Technology, I have never held a position in an IT department although my role was to liaise with the computer boffins. I found my IT studies invaluable in understanding and briefing colleagues and clients for projects.
I have also found that some of my IT skills are transferable in my current role as a teacher, however the programs and tools used (or their application)in education can be very different from the corporate world. Although I regularly incorporate ICT throughout my daily teaching and learning practices, I feel I still have a lot to learn about using IT for educational purposes.

Kathleen and Kelly have reflected on Our World, Our Stories on Kathleen's blog here. The two biggest highlights was the students receiving comments from author Mem Fox and illustrator Leslie Staub and winning a Edublog Award as the best group blog in the world! The students also became excited about learning, make friends around the world and developed a tolerance and understanding of others.
